10. The compass length (3 inches) represents the radius of the circle that is about to be drawn.

We know an equation for the area of a circle is pi x r^2

So lets use that equation

A (circle) = pi x 3^2 = pi x 9 = 28.3 square inches

and 11 is one fourth
