In order to solve for the width (which in turn will help us solve for the area), we need to find a scale.

Since the actual floor is 36 feet in length and the diagram has 9, we know the scale is 36/9, which can be simplified to 4/1.

Since we know that the width, is 32, we just have to divide by 4 to find the scaled down drawing, which will be 8 feet.

8*9 = 72 ft^2
