a. exact value 24√3, approximate value 41.6

b. 52.1

Explanation:

a) From right triangle with angle 60°

Blue dotted line is a leg that is opposite to the angle 60°.

tan 60°= opposite leg/adjacent leg= (blue dotted line)/24

tan 60°= (blue dotted line)/24

(blue dotted line)=24*tan(60°)=24*(√3)=24√3≈41.6

b) From right triangle with 53° angle

x is hypotenuse

Blue dotted line is a leg that are opposite to the angle 53°.

sin (53°)= opposite leg/ hypotenuse =(blue dotted line)/hypotenuse

sin (53°)= (blue dotted line)/hypotenuse

sin (53°)= 41.6/x

x=41.6/[sin(53°)]≈52.1
