A ball is dropped from the top of a building that is 250 feet tall. The height h of the ball in feet after t seconds is modeled by the function h=-16t^2+250. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary. A. How long will it take for the ball to reach the ground? Show your work

Answer:

The ball reach the ground at t=4 sec

Explanation:

Let

h-----> the height of the ball

t-----> the time in seconds

we have

h=-16t^(2) +250

we know that

When the ball reach the ground h=0 (x-intercept of the function)

so

For h=0 ind the value of t

0=-16t^(2) +250

16t^(2)=250

t^(2)=15.625

t=(+/-)4

The solution is t=4 seconds ( the value of t can not be negative)
