It was "illegal" to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler's Germany. But I am sure that, if I had lived in Germany during that time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers even though it was illegal.

Answer:

The excerpt has a Sympathetic tone and mood

Explanation:

The effect that this tone and mood has on people is very emotive. It can make people think about ourselves as society and how do we really support each other as human beings, taking an example of one of the biggest intolerance events and history and saying that even when they know that it is a risky situation to help others in the context they would do it, the speaker looks for the audience empathy towards others.
