Explanation:

Use the area of a kite formula (A = pq / 2) where p is a diagonal and q is a diagonal.

The diagonal that is horizontal is 2 + 2 which is 4.

The diagonal that is vertical is 10 + 20 which is 30.

4 * 30 = 120

120 / 2 = 60

For this case we have that by definition, the area of a triangle is given by:


A = \frac {b * h} {2}

Where:

b: It is the base of the triangle

h: It's the height of the triangle

In the figure two triangles are shown, inverted among themselves.


A_ {1} = \frac {4 * 20} {2} = 40 \ ft ^ 2\\A_ {2} = \frac {4 * 10} {2} = 20 \ ft ^ 2

Thus, the total area is:


A_ {t} = 40 \ ft ^ 2 + 20 \ ft ^ 2\\A {t} = 60 \ ft ^ 2
