A company is selling two different size medicine balls to a local colleges athletic department. The ratio of the ball diameters is 15:11. If the diameter of the small ball is 55 cm, what is the volume of the larger ball.

Answer:

The volume of the larger ball would be 221,000

Explanation:

In order to find this we first need to find the diameter of the new ball, we can do this by using a proportion.

15/11 = x/55

55*15 = 11* x

825 = 11x

75 = x

Now we take half of that for the diameter and then use that in the volume formula.

V = 4/3(pi)r^3

V = 4/3(pi)(37.5)^3

V = 221,000
