Answer:

D) x = 4 or x = −3

Explanation:

x^2 − x − 12 = 0

Factor

What 2 numbers multiply to -12 and add to -1

-4*3 = -12

-4+3 = -1

(x-4) (x+3) =0

Using the zero product property

x-4 =0 x+3 =0

x=4 x=-3

\bf{Hey\ there!}

\text{First you need to factor out the left side of your particular equation!}

\text{Factors of 12: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}

\text{We take out the 4 and 3 because those terms equals 12}

\text{Here's what I mean by that:(x + 3)(x - 4) = 0}

\text{For your second step set everything/factor to 0}

\text{Here's what I meant: x + 3= 0 or x - 4 = 0}

\text{Note: if you do the algebraic method you would have the values of your x's }

\boxed{\boxed{\text{Answer: x = - 3 or x = 4}}}\checkmark

\text{Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!}
