Mary and Jerry are exercising on a track. ?Mary is walking at the rate of 3 miles per hour. Jerry starts jogging at a rate of 4 miles per hour after Mary has been walking for 15 minutes. Jerry jogs 2 miles as Mary continues walking, and they both stop at the same time. Enter the total distance, in miles, that Mary walks around the track.

1) The distance Mary (M) had walk when Jerry (J ) jogging
-M has been walking for 15 minutes = 0.25 hour
V= d/t===> d = Vx t = 3 (0.25) = 0.75 mies.
2) Time that J jogs 2 miles at the rate 4 mph...
V= d/t ====> t = d/V = 2 miles/4 miles = 0.5 hours

3) The distance for M can walk in 0.5 hours at the rate 3mph.
V = d/t ====> d = V x t = 3 (0.5) = 1.5 miles.

4) total distance (d) that M walk around the track is
0.75 + 1.5 = 2.25 miles
