Answer:

(C) 7/36

Explanation:

Dora has a pitcher with 11/12 quarts of apple juice. She pours an equal amount of the apple juice into 3 glasses. There is still 1/3 quart of apple juice remaining in the pitcher.

11/12 - 1/3

Convert them so they have the same denominator.

1/3 becomes 4/12

11/12 - 4/12 = 7/12

She pours an equal amount of the apple juice into 3 glasses. How much apple juice, in quarts, is poured into each glass?

7/12 ÷ 3

When dividing fractions, flip the sign and the second fraction.

7/12 × 1/3 = 7/36

Each glass has 7/36 quarts.

7/36 + 7/36 + 7/36 + 1/3 = 11/12

Out of the 11/12 quarts of apple juice she started out with, there is 1/3 remaining so she poured 11/12 - 1/3 or 7/12 quarts total. Divide 7/12 ÷ 3 glasses to find how much was pored for each glass, which is 7/36 quarts per glass
