The population of a city in 2005 was 18,000. By 2010, the city’s population had grown to 45,000. Economists have determined that the population growth follows an exponential model. If they are correct, what is the projected population for 2015?

Answer:

72,000

Explanation:

1) We must find the difference in population within the 5 year period from 2005 to 2010.

This is the equation I've used to find the answer

(45,000 - 18,000) / 5 = 5,400

2) Add the starting amount by 10x the difference in population (5,400)

`10 years from 2005 is 2015.

18,000 + (10 * 5,400) = 72,000
