Slaves couldn't own property because they were considered property themselves. They were pretty much the object, or property in this situation. So, they do all the things for their owner as the owner demands.

Answer:

Slaves were regarded as the property of their owners.

Step-by-step explanation:

Slavery, by definition is a physical condition where a human owns another human or set of human.

The word ownership in the definition points to the fact that a slave lacks most of human rights including rights to own a property because the law recognises the slave as a property or a chattel (personal property).

Beings enslaved is applicable to all aspects of the slave's life because whoever is regarded as a slave has no freedom and freewill to do certain actions without getting reprimanded for.
