x^2-12=4x
x^2-4x-12=0
x=6 or -2 but because you need a positive solution the answer is 6.

Answer:

n=6

Explanation:

Let n = number

We square the number

n^2

Then subtract 12

n^2 -12

The result is 4 times the number

n^2 -12 = 4n

Subtract 4n from each side

n^2 -12 -4n = 4n-4n

n^2-4n-12=0

Factor

(n-6) (n+2) =0

Using the zero product property

n-6=0 n+2 =0

n=6 n=-2

We want the positive solution

n=6
