x = 1/2

-x - 1 = x - 2

- x - 1 = x - 2 (Carry over unknown together and put like-terms together)

-x - x = 1 - 2

-2x = -1

x = -1 / -2

x = 1/2

Therefore x = 1/2

Answer:

\large\boxed{x=(1)/(2)}

Explanation:

-x-1=x-2\qquad\text{add 1 to both sides}\\\\-x-1+1=x-2+1\\\\-x=x-1\qquad\text{subtract x from both sides}\\\\-x-x=x-x-1\\\\-2x=-1\qquad\text{divide both sides by (-2)}\\\\(-2x)/(-2)=(-1)/(-2)\\\\x=(1)/(2)
