The area of Mr. Hilton’s kitchen floor is equal to the area of a larger rectangle plus the area of two smaller rec tangles

Find the area of larger rectangle (rectangle 1)


A=(12)(10-4)=72\ ft^(2)

Find the area of the two smaller rectangles (rectangle 2 and rectangle 3)


A=2[(3)(4)]=24\ ft^(2)

sum the areas


72\ ft^(2)+24=96\ ft^(2)
