On the next play, he gained 5 feet. Was his

The first because he gained 2 yards which is equal to 12 feet, on the second he only gained 5 feet.

One yard is 3 feet.
2(3) = 6, so he gained 6 feet on the first play. Therefore, the first play had the greater gain.
