Explanation:

4^3=64

6^3=216

64+216=280

That is the sum of the volumes of the two shaded cubes

10^3=1000

That is the volume of the third cube.

The third cube is larger than the other two.

The volume of a cube is length*width*height so the volume of the first shaded cube is 4*4*4 (or 4 cubed) which is 64ft³. The volume of the second shaded cube is 6*6*6 or 216ft³. The volume of both combined is 216 + 64 or 280ft³. The volume of the larger cube is 10*10*10 or 1000ft³ which means that Ben is wrong because the volume of the unshaded cube is larger than the combined volumes of the shaded cubes.
