Answer:

160 gm

Explanation:

Mean =
\frac{\text{Sum of masses of apples}}{\text{No. of apples}}

100 =
\frac{\text{Sum of masses of apples}}{3}

100 * 3 = \text{Sum of masses of apples}

300 = \text{Sum of masses of apples}

So, the mass of 3 apples is 300 gm.

Now we are given that the largest apple is removed , the mean mass of the remaining two apples is 70 grams

\text{Mean mass of two apples}=\frac{\text{Sum of masses of two remaining apples}}{\text{No. of apples}}

70=\frac{\text{Sum of masses of two remaining apples}}{2}

70 * 2=\frac{\text{Sum of masses of two remaining apples}}{2}

140=\text{Sum of masses of two remaining apples}

So, mass of two apples is 140 gm

Total mass of 3 apples = 300 gm

So, mass of largest apple = 300 - 140 = 160 grams.

Hence the mass of the largest apple is 160 gm
