Winston needs at least 80 signatures from students in his school before he can run for class president. He has 23 signatures already. He and his two friends plan to get the remaining signatures during lunch. If each person gets the same number of signatures, which inequality can Winston use to determine the minimum number of signatures each person should get so he can run for class president?

each person needs to get at least 19 signutures more.

80 - 23 = 57

57 / 3 = 19

x \geqslant 19

hopefully this helps.

Answer:

The inequality would be 3x ≥ 80 - 23, which simplifies to x ≥ 19

Explanation:

In this equation, x would be for each student. Since there are 3 students, we know that we can multiply their number by 3. We also know they need 23 less than 80. After creating this equation, we can solve.

3x ≥ 80 - 23

3x ≥ 57

x ≥ 19
