Read the research paper excerpt and answer the question.

Global warming, otherwise known as a gradual climate change, is a subject that has been in the spotlight more and more recently. The effects of global warming are on the rise, and they do not discriminate against any corner of the world; the effects are universal. The average temperature of our atmosphere continues to rise as the Arctic ice continues to melt. Coral reefs are dying in droves, and we are seeing an upsurge in extreme weather events, such as tropical storms and wildfires ("Global"). It is time that we, as a nation, wake up and start taking care of the planet that has taken care of us for so long. As Al Gore so succinctly states, "What we take for granted might not be here for our children" ("Memorable quotes").

Answer:

The words are carefully chosen to persuade readers of the urgent need to join the fight against global warming.

Step-by-step explanation:

By using examples from real life situation and the mounting effects of global warming citing recent occurrences, the author is able to convince the reader to make a decision and join forces especially that his very own children may be the future victims.
