Your dinner bill is $25 before tax. The tax rate is 8%. You decide to give the waiter 10% tip based on your pre-tax bill. What is the TOTAL amount of cash you should pay?

Hello there!

First we want to do $25 times 10%.

10% as a decimal is 0.10.

We then do 25 * 0.10 and we get $2.50

$2.50 is what the waiter would get as a tip.

We then want to add $25 times 8%

8% as a decimal is 0.08.

We then do 25 * 0.08 and we get $2.00

$25.00 (Bill) + $2.00 (Tax) + $2.50 (Tip) = $29.50.

Therefore, the total amount of cash you should pay with should be that, or $30.00 if you round up.

Hope this helped, have a great day!

Answer:

$29.50

Explanation:

First we need to find the tip

tip = pre tax bill * 10 %

tip = 25 * .10

tip =2.5

Next we need to find the tax

tax = pre tax bill * 8%

tax = 25 * .08

tax =2

Final bill = pre tax bill + tax + tip

Final bill = 25 + 2 + 2.5

=29.50
