Courts-Martial are special courts for disputes that happened in the military. They bring forward charges against members of the armed forces and they proceed with the trial and the verdict.

In the USA, the laws of military courts are set forth in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which is the foundation of the military legal system.

The courts-martial are separate from civilian criminal laws.

There are three types of courts-martial: general ( the most serious one), special ( a middle one ) and summary ( the least serious one).
