Explanation:

5x + 2y = 10

2x + y = 2, 4x + 2y = 4.

Therefore (5x + 2y) - (4x + 2y) = 10 - 4, x = 6.

=> 2(6) + y = 2, y = -10.

The solutions are x = 6 and y = -10.
