Explanation:

ABCD is constructed from 2 right triangles ABD and BCD

The area (A ) of a triangle is calculated using the formula

A =
(1)/(2) bh ( b is the base and h the perpendicular height )

In ΔABD, b = AD = 60 and h = AB = 25, hence

A =
(1)/(2) × 60 × 25 = 30 × 25 = 750 cm²

In ΔBCD, b = BD = 65 and h = CE = 45, hence

A =
(1)/(2) × 65 × 45 = 1462.5 cm²

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The area of figure ABCD = area of ΔABD + area of ΔBCD

A = 750 + 1462.5 = 2212.5 cm²
