BYOD or "bring your own device" is problematic for a company that wants to protect its network and connected assets because management of the security on devices not owned by the company is more of a challenge. If the company owns the device, it can control all aspects of its configuration and installed software.

BYOD, or bring your own device, is used in the IT world, it refers to allowing employees to come to work with their own computing devices such as laptops,tablets and smartphones.

There are various risks attached to this program such as

Data Theft.

Malware and virus Infiltration.

Security breach

Poor Mobile Management.

Opportunities for Data Theft - BYOD makes communication effectively between employer and employee , however someone may be somewhere else using the same device connected to other unsecured outside WiFi networks which can be a threat to a company's Information. The company's infomation may be exposed to hackers.

Malware Infiltration - An employee may use their devices to download from unsecure websites therefore comprising the company's infomation stored in their devices. These downloaded files may have hidden malware or viruses.

Security breach leading to potential Legal Issues - if an employee leaks some vital information , that may ruin the company and out it it under severs legal issues.

Poor Mobile Management- when employees leave the company they have a right to take their devices with them and there is no guarantee that they still can't access company's Information through their devices.
