If K is the midpoint of JL, JK= 8x + 11 and KL = 14x-1, find JL

JK=KL

Substitute

8x+11= 14x-1

-8x -8x

----------------------

11 = 6x-1

+1 +1

-----------------------

(÷6)12=6x (÷6)

------------------------

x = 2

JK+KL= JL

Substitute

8x+11+14x-1

8(2) +11+14(2)-1

---------------------------

16+10+ 28

26+28

54
