What is the difference between melting and burning a substance? One mass conserved in another process?

The word "Melting" is directly related to liquefying something, such as when you melt ice. Burning something is essentially heating it up to the point that it turns into a gas then the gas becomes fire. Melting conserves the mass but in a different form. Burning converts the substance into a different form but then immediately consumes it. Hope this helps!
