Explanation:

-4x - 2(8x + 1) = -(-2x - 10)

1. Use distributive property: a(b + c) = ab + ac

-4x - 16x - 2 = 2x + 10

2. Simplify

-20x - 2 = 2x + 10

3. Subtract 2x from both sides

-20x - 2x - 2 = 2x - 2x + 10

4. Simplify

-22x - 2 = 10

5. Add 2 to both sides

-22x - 2 + 2 = 10 + 2

6. Simplify

-22x = 12

6. Divide both sides by -22

-22x/-22 = 12/-22

7. Simplify

x = -6/11 <----- Answer

Hope This Helped!!!
