Who emphasized the importance of transference in the therapeutic process?

Transference in a therapeutic setting was first described by Sigmund Freud who emphasized it's importance.

Dr. Freud, in his studies found that patient to therapist transference occurred unconsciously where the patient transferred his or her emotions toward the therapist he/she was seeking treatment with.
