Answer:

You can break the figure up into 3 rectangles which I have colored red, yellow and pink.

The red rectangle will be 5m x 9m

the yellow rectangle will be 4m by (14m - 5m -5m) which equals 4m x 4m

and the pink rectangle is the same as the red rectangle - 5m x 9m

the area of the red rectangle is 5x9 = 45m2

the area of the yellow rectangle is 4x4=16m2

the area of the pink rectangle is 5x9=45m2

the area of the figure is 45+16+15=106m2
