Answer:

Take half the diameter and use that as your radius to find the area of the full circle, then divide that by 2 to get half the circle. Next, to get the square area, take the diameter and multiply it by the side. Lastly, add both areas together.

It's asking you what way you gonna use to find out, so:

Find the half circle's area on the top first and then find the rectangle's area, and then add them together.
