The people of Kansas were very fond of a railroad being built through their state. Kansas was oriented toward agricultural production, thus its economy was based around the agriculture. While Kansas was producing large amounts of agricultural goods with excellent quality, there was a big problem with the transportation of them, as Kansas has no access to sea, so the products were transported slowly and over smaller distances so that they don't spoil. The railroad though would change that, as it will enable the agricultural products to be shipped very quickly, over large distances, and through that also to open up larger market.
