A. outside of the parenthesis

Whether you're citing a direct quote in quotation marks or citing a part of the text you paraphrased, the parenthetical citations are treated as part of the sentence and the period will go outside of the last parenthesis.

A - in-text citations go outside of the parenthesis.

Example: (Smith, 2010, p. 87).
