Cuba and the rest of the Latin American countries that had communism had different developments. Cuba did not lose any money because of communism, the nations was actually developing at a good rate, and was also supported by the Soviet Union during its existence. The nations was stable, the economy was relatively good, and there was constant slight progress, so when compared with the rest of the Latin American countries, it seems that the communism was actually good for Cuba.
The same can not be said about the rest of the Latin American countries that tried to adopt the communism. They had terrible, bad planned politics which was ruining their economies. Also, the US had multiple interventions that further put them in bigger economic troubles, so we can comfortably say that they lost a lot of money, and were also set back in their development.
