Hyperflexibility (or hypermobility) are often not related any cause. In this case, it is called benign hypermobility.
Moreover, this pathology can also be linked to:
- abnormalities in the bone structure.
- abnormalities in muscle tone and rigidity;
- the presence of familial episodes of hypermobility (possibility of inheritance).
However, hypermobility can result from typical illnesses like:
- Down syndrome.
- Cleidocranial dysplasia.
- Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
- Marfan syndrome.
- Morquio syndrome.
