Start with

2(x-3)+9=3(x+1)+x

Expand both parentheses by multiplying both terms by the number outside:

2x-6+9 = 3x+3+x

Sum like terms:

2x+3 = 4x+3

Simplify the "+3" on both sides:

2x = 4x

Subtract 2x from both sides:

2x=0

Divide both sides by 2:

x=0
