Decreased. Moore' Law states that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit chip will double every two years. This has held true since the 1970s but is starting to slow to every 2.5 years or so now. In any case, computers double in power but the cost holds steady or decreases giving the net effect of making computers less expensive. A computer in the mid 1990s might cost $2-3000 but a more powerful machine today might only cost $800. Cost of computing has decreased overall.
