Hello,

x² + 5x + 6 = 0

a = 1 ; b = 5 ; c = 6

∆ = b² - 4ac = 5² - 4 × 1 × 6 = 25 - 24 = 1 > 0

2 solutions :

x_(1) = ( - b - √(\Delta) )/(2a) = ( - 5 - 1)/(2 * 1) = ( - 6)/(2) = - 3

x_(2) = ( - b + √(\Delta) )/(2a) = ( - 5 + 1)/(2 * 1) = ( - 4)/(2) = - 2

S = { -3 ; -2}
