What are the two heat sources within the earth that causes plate movements ?

Plates at our planet's surface move because of the intense heat in the Earth's core that causes molten rock in the mantle layer to move. It moves in a pattern called a convection cell that forms when warm material rises, cools, and eventually sink down. Mantle convection is the slow creeping motion of Earth's solid silicate mantle caused by convection currents carrying heat from the interior to the planet's surface.

hoped this helped.

The two heat sources within the earth that causes plate movements are as follows:

  • the radiogenic heat
  • primordial heat

Step-by-step explanation:

The earth’s surface faces heat that has two typical sources and is measured in Terawatts unit. The isotopes decay radioactively in the earth’s mantle and crust and produce radiogenic heat in the process.

The inert heat which is dormant inside gets generated due to earth’s past formation process is the primordial heat. So, these two types of sources of heat cause plate movements within the earth crust. Again, there are gravity forces acting which also contribute to such tectonic movements.
