Convex mirrors are used in side mirrors in cars because it has a wider field of view than others. This is because convex mirrors bend the light it reflects. The more it bends the light. The further the object is from the mirror, the image that will be produced will be smaller. That's why the side mirrors usually say that objects are closer than they appear.

A concave lens on the other hand, reflect light inwards, away from the light source. That's why they are used in telescopes, ,because they are used to collect light. The images that concave mirrors produces are enlarged.
