4x - 3x = -9 + 30 2 (2x - 17) + 4 = -3 (3 + x)

So, we are going to DISTRIBUTE

Lets work on the left side of the equation first

Multiply 2 on the out side of the parenthesis by what is on the inside

2 x 2x = 4x

2 x -17 = -34

So on the left side we now have

4x - 34 + 4

add 4

4x - 30

Let's do the same thing on the other side

-3 x 3 = -9

-3 x X = 3x

Now let's put everything together

4x - 30 = -9 + 3x

COMBINE LIKE TERMS

x = 21

comment if you have any questions! Hope I helped :)

Answer:

x=3

Explanation:

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

2(2x−17)+4=−3(3+x)

4x+−34+4=−9+−3x {distribute}

4x+−30=−3x−9 {combine like terms}

Step 2: Add 3x to both sides.

4x−30+3x=−3x−9+3x

7x−30=−9

Step 3: Add 30 to both sides.

7x−30+30=−9+30

7x=21

Step 4: Divide both sides by 7.

7x/7=21/7

x=3
