The correct answer is - divided.

The genocide that occurred in Turkey was a genocide performed by the Turkish people over the Armenian people. This genocide had ethnic and religious connotations. The Turkish wanted all people in Turkey to declare themselves as Turkish by ethnicity, and also to adopt the Islam as their religion. The Armenians though were not willing to give up on their ethnic, cultural, and religious heritage, and that angered the Turkish officials who systematically started to perform a genocide over them.

Lot of people were murdered, mostly man. Many died because of the terrible conditions in which the Turkish put them. The man and the women were separated, thus the families were divided and destroyed, most of which never got together again. That resulted in a large scale genocide of the Armenian people on the Turkish territory, a genocide that unfortunately is often neglected by the history and the politicians.
