The French and American revolutions present the following similarities
- Both revolutions occurred in response to the political and economic measures imposed by monarchies. For the American Revolution by the King of England George III and by the reigning monarchy in France.
- In the two revolutions they were influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment, which was a cultural movement of the Renaissance in the eighteenth century that proclaimed the freedom of the human spirit, had great influence.
- In both scenarios, strong tax measures or tax burdens were more severe for the colonists of America and the less privileged class of France.
