Answer: $3.25

Explanation:

First you need to calculate the cost of the 8 pounds of nuts.

Cashews = 4 x $4 = $16

Peanuts = 4 x $2.50 = $10

The total cost of 8 pounds of nuts equals $16 + $10 = $26

In order to calculate the cost of 1 pound of the mixture you need to divide the total cost by the total weight.

$26 / 8 lbs = $3.25 / lb

The cost of one pound of the mixture is $3.25.

because we have to find the total cost of one pound of the mixture, therefore first we will calculate the total cost of cashews and Peanuts and than we will divide the total cost by the total weight.

step by step solution:

cost of 4 pounds cashews@$ 4/pound = 4 x 4= $16

cost of 4 pounds of peanuts @$2.50/pound = 4 x 2.50= $10.00

Now total cost= $16+$10= $26

now total weight= 4+4=8 pounds

Then cost of 1 pound of mixture= total cost÷ total weight

cost = 26÷8= 3.25

so answer is $3.25
