Answer:

The Cold War created the existence of an eternal enemy in America, and politicians capitalized on it in order to strengthen their own feeling of authority and dominance. The Cold War was a straightforward and definable opponent of American politics and culture, on which all could agree. For centuries, the Cold War became a motor of popular culture. Among other media, films and literature covered topics such as nuclear war, dystopia and spying.

I hope this helps, and as always, I am joyous to assist anyone at any time.
