-4(3k - 9) = 19 + 5k

First, distribute the -4 ont he left side.

-12k + 36 = 19 + 5k

Subtract 5k from both sides.

-17k + 36 = 19

Subtract 36 from both sides.

-17k = -17

Divide both sides by -17.

k = 1

Answer: k = 1
