Polarization is defined as the development of a charge on the surface of an object either because of rubbing or due to the transfer of electrons from one object to another.

For example, when a glass rod is rubbed with a silk cloth then it tends to become positively charges because electrons from it flow towards the silk cloth.

So, it is only the electrons which tend to move as electrons are mobile in nature. As protons are positively charges and they are present inside the nucleus of an atom. Hence, they are tightly bound and they are unable to move.

Therefore, we can conclude that during the polarization of an object, negative charges flow toward positive charges.
