C. 1

−3/4x + 2 1/4 = (1/2)x + 1

Ax = B. Put all the x's on one side and the integers on the other.

−3/4x + 2 1/4 = 1/2x + 1

2 1/4 - 1 = 1/2x + 3/4x

B = Ax:

1 1/4 = 5/4 x

5/4x = 1 1/4x

x = B. Divide by 1 1/4:

1 1/4 = 1 1/4x

1 = x
