Final answer:

If your 3DS XL is not turning on or charging after being unused for a year, it could be due to a drained battery or a hardware malfunction. Try troubleshooting steps like checking the charging cable, removing the battery, or contacting Nintendo support for further assistance.

Step-by-step explanation:

The issue with your 3DS XL not turning on or charging after being untouched for a year is likely due to a drained battery or a hardware malfunction. Here are a few steps you can try:

  1. Ensure the charging cable is plugged in correctly and try a different power outlet.
  2. Remove the battery from the 3DS XL and try charging it separately using a battery charger.
  3. If the above steps don't work, it may indicate a hardware issue. You can try reaching out to Nintendo support for further assistance or take it to a professional repair service.

It's also worth mentioning that if the 3DS XL has been stored in a humid environment, it's possible that corrosion or moisture damage has occurred, which could cause it to not turn on. In such cases, it's best to consult a professional technician.

Try charging overnight, otherwise it is most likely broken. Hope you get a new 3DS, although the Nintendo Switch is also a great console to consider!
