The answer is:

B. Lords could not hire enough people to work their land

This is because three fourths of the population of Europe was killed off by the Black Plague

Answer: B) Lords could not hire enough people to work their land.

There were many reasons for the breakdown of the feudal system after the Black Death spread through Europe. This plague killed more thant 30% of the population in Europe (around 25 million people). Peasants revolted, and the Lords had to pay for the work performed, because now the work was free, and little by little the society was being reorganized with the Capitalism.
